Het Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam heeft ons zeer hartelijk ontvangen en onze eerste vier fellows hebben elkaar eindelijk ontmoet! Na de kennismaking volgde een levendige discussie over kwantumfysica, het meetprobleem, waarom we determinisme \u00fcberhaupt in twijfel zouden trekken en hoe we kunnen beargumenteren dat het noodzakelijk is om determinisme in twijfel te trekken, hoe we begrippenkunnen operationaliseren, zoals nieuwe metafysische kaders, betekenis, verbondenheid, objectiviteit (bestaat dat \u00fcberhaupt?), vrije wil, het wetenschappelijke proces (wat betekent dit voor het wetenschappelijke proces?) en zelfs waarheid. Despite these big topics, there was plenty of room for a few laughs and getting to know each other a little better.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A week later, a related workshop was held by IAS in honour of Federico Faggin\u2019s book, <em>Irreducible<\/em>, that is being published by the Essentia Foundation. E\u00e9n van onze fellows kwam terug (uit Oostenrijk) om daar ook aan deel te nemen. And another helped organize it.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het laatste half uur besteedden we aan hoe we het netwerk het beste kunnen voortzetten, zodat het zo nuttig mogelijk is voor de fellows. We zullen tweemaandelijks bijeenkomsten houden in hybride vorm, zodat fellows op afstand hieraan kunnen deelnemen. Er is een WhatsApp-groep opgezet om de lijnen kort te houden en we stellen een (online) leeslijst samen. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Netwerken zijn natuurlijk levende en ademende entiteiten (zouden ze bewustzijn kunnen hebben? Misschien een onderwerp voor het netwerk!).
